I thought it was appropriate with the recent news on regulations for schools to bring some light to our homeschooling journey. Clearly this is a controversial subject these days but for us, it as truly been the biggest blessing for our family. Not only has it advanced Stella, it has also brought us so much closer as mother and daughter.

This year we got very lucky and a spot had opened up to a local Charter school. We signed all the papers and met with her assigned "teacher" and picked out all the curriculum. The first day of school came really fast and we kind of just "faked it til we made it" with what to do next. It only took about a week before I decided that the kinder curriculum that I was given was a little under Stella's level. I am truly blessed that I did find this out as soon as I did because I ended up finding different pieces of curriculum that has really made her sore. We started with lots of ABC work and now we are recognizing verbs and nouns, reading books front to back, and adding and subtracting. These things would not have been accomplished while in a classroom with 20+ kids and we are so thankful we were able to make this homeschooling happen!

Not only is it so gratifying watching your littles grow and learn, its fun to even learn or relearn thinks as the parent as well. Picking and choosing the extra things other than just the fundamentals is so enjoyable for me as well. So as we approach the holidays I am finding all kinds of books and crafts to really bring it into their school days. Now there are so many different curriculums you can purchase for your kids antd so many platforms to find them, my favorite ways to find things are Pinterest, Youtube, and Amazon. Searching through Pinterest I have found many different free printable for really every subject and theme. Youtube has found me many different moms who've all have different unique styles on HOW they homeschool. And Amazon has given us many many fun workbooks, reading books and games. I will link some of my favorite finds below as well and my homeschool board for Pinterest as well.

It was scary at first and I was so nervous wondering if I would teach her the right things at the right time but once we started everything truly fell into place, I know that God has really watched over us in this journey and has been guiding us along the way. I was worried that with me still working we would be rushed and not get enough done but everything has worked out so perfectly. We got into our new routine pretty quickly and we have a pretty set schedule which I will have a separate blog of. Please, if you have any questions about curriculum or just home schooling in general, do not hesitate to ask. We want to help as many people as we possibly can in their journey. I will even be doing a "where to start" blog with some tips that have helped me as well.
